Win a copy of 1066, Tears to Many Mothers!!

Dear readers of my humble blog,

How would you like to win a copy of 1066??
This is your chance to win an unused Printer Studio prototype copy of my forthcoming game 1066, Tears to Many Mothers, posted free to anywhere in the world!

Note that this is a ‘prototype only’, the cards for the official release will look substantially different - i.e. all the artwork - so this is pretty much a one time opportunity. You will receive 172 (count em!) linen finished cards with gorgeous art but you will not receive any tokens with the game (you'll need generic tokens of 2 different colours, and a first player marker would be handy). You can download the rules from the BGG 1066 files page here:

All you have to do is pop a Comment on this page below explaining why you’d like to win a copy, and the most creative/interesting response will be chosen on 31st May 2014!

NB.  This competition is not connected to the Games4GeekGold listing on BGG.

Thanks for reading and good luck!

Tristan

Well, Jason, with only three entrants so far you've got good odds - thanks for posting! :D

I get my kicks in 1066
When King Harold got in a fix
Some say 1066 is when modern England began
When William the Conqueror became the main man

I get my kicks in 1066
Historical re-enactment timeline mix
I did a re-enactment at Battle Abbey's front door
But from a different period, the English Civil War

I get my kicks in 1066
Watched the Time Team special presented by Baldrick's
Actor man called Tony Robinson
Who presented the radical idea that history commemorates the battle at the wrong site and suggested two alternative places where the engagement may have taken place, but in a manner that made it very difficult to rhyme with anything.

I get my kicks in 1066
Playing boardgames is how I get my kicks
Owning a game with a historical theme
To play against my kids would be a dream.

I get my kicks in 1066
Time for rockin' out geetar licks
dow nah nau nau wee
ooh wow a wee wow weee
hey!
dow nah nau nau wee
ooh wow a wee wow weee

I get my kicks in 1066
I even went to BGG to look at the pics
At the moment there are only two pictures to see
When I get my copy I’ll upload loads taken by me

If I win the game you’ll have to send it internationally
But it should be easy for it to get to me
Because I live in London, not in the Styx
And I get my kicks in 1066!

I'd love to own a copy of this game because my wife and I use excellent board & card games to augment our sons' studies in history. The boys have learned a great deal of history from games (e.g. London, Nations, Hannibal: Rome vs. Carthage, The Lord of the Rings LCG...) Oh, wait.

Also, my 11 year old son, Jesse, looks very much like Hugh Guardsmesnil (pictured above).

The Lord of the Rings IS historical... Right??

Hi there,

don't want to make this too long. I'm a card gamer and I've myself 2-3 games under development (way behind 1066's stage to be honest).

I'd really like to get a prototype to test it.

Even If I'm not the "lucky winner" I'd like to ask you if you have still spots for a playtester (I'd print it myself).

Regards

Thanks Elianto, and good luck with your game.
If you email me - holycriphesacrapple at gmail - we'll look at setting you up as a play tester too. :)

I am just getting my wife into "proper" games. She's from Kent (not too far from Battle!). We now live in Donegal in Ireland (her mother is Irish) and our two kids were born here.

So for getting my wife past party games, having the Kent connection, setting my kids early on the "proper" games route and reminding them of our English history your great looking game would be a perfect fit.

"I'd like to win a copy of 1066 Tears to Many Mothers because....."
It will give me something to play while I'm waiting for Fantasy Quest to be released, and I will promise to write a glowing review.....

Ninjadorg said...

Haha, as long as 'glowing' was 'honest' then I'd be happy with that, David.

Apologies for the delay people, I've been out and about and am back on the internets now.

I'm delighted to announce that, with his excellent rendition of "I get my kicks in 1066" our winner is Steve Dell.

Thanks to all of you who entered, and I'll try to run this competition again sometime.

Steve, please send me your address details to holycriphesacrapple at gmail and I'll get your copy posted out to you ASAP.

Cheers!
